Neo-Renaissance Art

Exploring the Essence of Art, Music and Poetry

The Guardian of the Neo-Renaissance

Born in Brazil to the renowned art critic Pierre Santos and the visual artist Ana Guitel, Igor Nigri grew up surrounded by art and culture. He was shaped by the Guignard School, where he cata-logued the works and teachings of the master Guignard, becoming one of his most faithful intellec-tual heirs.

Together with his father, he authored pivotal books in art history, including Giotto: The Return of Art to Life, The Dawn of Christian Art, The Renaissance, History of the Arts, Leonardo da Vinci and Natural Geometry, and the definitive Biography of Guignard.

In 2016, Nigri became the curator and later president of the Guignard Foundation, extending his leadership also as president of the Pancetti and Di Cavalcanti Institutes. A profound scholar of the Renaissance and classical arts, Nigri not only revived but also recreated tradition, founding the Neo-Renaissance movement - divided into Classical, Impressionist, and Lyrical currents - where the heritage of the past intertwines with a new philosophical, aesthetic, and poetic vision.

His art, however, transcends painting: Nigri incorporated sculpture and classical architecture, bringing architectural grandeur onto the canvas. As a scholar of classical languages and with a de-gree in theology, he wrote epic poems in Latin and Hebrew, as well as plays and operas, giving rise to what he calls the Neo-Renaissance in music and poetry.

Intellectual, philosopher, and visionary creator, Igor Nigri unites painting, music, and poetry into a single work, opening a new path for contemporary art, where the past is not only remembered but reborn and elevated to new horizons.
